8th
World Eskrima Kali-Arnis Championships
The
8th World Eskrima Kali-Arnis Championships (hereafter called
¡§WEKAF Competition¡¨) was held in Cebu City, Philippines between 23rd
and 25th June 2004 and led to a perfect completion.
Over twenty countries from Europe and Asia had participated the
competition.
The
Hong Kong Representative Team (¡§WEKAF HK¡¨), under the base of the
Philippine Martial Art Federation (¡§PMAF¡¨), is the first time to join
the competition. 2
of our Athletes won the World bronze medals of their respective weight
classes of 117lbs and 127lbs. It is
an inspirational result that proves the athletic capability of Hong Kong to
compete overseas on this sport.
Last
but not least, each and every elite athlete of the WEKAF HK had devoted full
effort with determinative mind in the competition for the awarded glory.
We must always remember this as a driving force for future development of
the Eskrima Kali-Arnis in Hong Kong.
PMAF
will continue to focus on sharpening the skills of athletes heading on to
further international events. It is
estimated that much better results could be achieved with the high quality
trainings and persistent sportsman spirit in which lies the foundation of
success.
